Tourism can be an opportunity for sustainable development in marginalized communities if it ensures their active involvement, fair distribution of benefits and training opportunities. This requires inclusive strategies that involve local communities in co-creating heritage-based experiences to support their reactivation. This paper illustrates how to implement educational interventions inspired by this approach. We will present the Participatory Invented Archive “La Cultura del Tabacco,” a device that, by effectively integrating physical and digital components, collects and makes accessible testimonies and documentary resources of various formats and types. This serves to promote intergenerational knowledge and dissemination of oral heritage. Furthermore, it stimulates and supports local shared narration initiatives aimed at engaging diverse audiences in the exploration of places, interaction with community witnesses, and the production of new cultural content.
